About Hingolgadh Nature Education Sanctuary
Hingolgadh Nature Education Sanctuary is located at Jasdan taluka in the district of Rajkot. The sanctuary covers a small area of around 654 square kilometers.
Hingolgadh was declared a sanctuary in 1980. It is managed by the Gujarat Ecological Education and Research (GEER) Foundation in Gandhinagar as the Hingolgadh Nature Education Sanctuary.
The tropical grassland ecosystem is a unique dwelling for diverse range of animals and reptiles.
It is home to a wide variety of reptiles and animals like the endangered Chinkara, wolf, blue bull, hyena, porcupine, and flying foxes, and birds like spotted dove, bulbul, woodpecker, and others.
It hosts 155 species of plants of 66 families, 229 species of birds, 21 species of mammals, 33 species of reptiles, and eight species of amphibians.
Flora and Fauna :
Flora:- The sanctuary is rich in dry deciduous types of forests and comprises various species of trees and plants. Some of the common trees found here are acacia Senegal (gorad), mytenus emarginata (vikalo), Acacia nilotica (baval), Commiphora wightii (Gugal), etc. The sanctuary is full of various types of grasses and scrubs. During the rainy season, the place brims with life and everything looks quite greenish.
Fauna:- The sanctuary shelters various species of animals that include nilgai, chinkara, Indian hare, wolf, mongoose, Indian porcupine, jackals, hyenas, etc. The sanctuary also supports around 230 species of birds like bulbul, weaver bird, and many more.

The Nearest Town Vinchhiya (2.5 kilometers) and the Nearest bus station is Jasdan (14 kilometers).
The Sanctuary is 32 kilometers from Gondal and 77 kilometers from Rajkot.
