About Modhera Solar Power Project
The central and Gujarat government initiated the solarisation of Modhera Sun Temple and town to provide round-the-clock solar energy through a solar power project integrated with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Sujjanpura in Mehsana, nearly 6 km away from the Sun Temple.

The Gujarat government had allotted 12 hectares of land for the development of this project.
Cost of Modhera Solar Power Project
An amount of Rs 80.66 crore was spent on a 50:50 basis by both the state and central governments in two phases. The first phase constituted Rs 69 crore, and the second phase, Rs 11.66 crore.
Feature of Modhera Solar Power Project
- Through this project, Modhera will become the first village in India to become a net renewable energy generator.
- It will be the first modern village to have a solar-based ultra-modern electric vehicle charging station.
- To be India’s first grid-connected megawatt-hours (MWh) scale battery energy storage system.
- People in Modhera would be saving 60% to 100 % on electricity bills.
Modhera Sun Temple Solarization
The heritage lighting and 3-D projection at the Sun Temple would operate on solar energy. The 3-D projection will inform visitors about the history of Modhera. Heritage lighting has been installed on the temple premises.

પ્રોજેક્ટની વિશેષતાઓ
