About Ratanmahal Sloth Bear Sanctuary

The Ratanmahal Wildlife Sanctuary is home to sloth bears and other deadly animals like leopards, black panthers, palm civets, Indian civets, four-horned antelope, langurs, etc.

The locals suggest that the Sloth Bear is far more dangerous than a leopard, but assist tourists in spotting this thrilling beast.

For learning the habits and behavior of the sloth bear, this sanctuary offers a unique opportunity as they are densely populated here.

Ratanmahal Wildlife Sanctuary is also the location for a water conservation project, housing an irrigation dam and reservoir.

Ratanmahal declare it as a wildlife sanctuary in March 1982.

Flora & Fauna Of Ratanmahal Sloth Bear Sanctuary

In Ratanmahal Sloth Bear Sanctuary Plants like Teak, dudhlo, sadad, timru, amla, bamboo, dhavdo, kakadiyo, mahuda, tanach, charoli, ber, jamun, khakhro, etc. There is Total of 543 plants are recorded.

Other faunas include the Indian civet, four-horned antelope, langurs, and a pit viper. It is also home to local jackals, hyenas, honey badgers, foxes, and porcupines.

The avifauna includes Loten’s sunbird, large green barbet, yellow checked tit, crested serpent eagle, grey junglefowl, treepies, white-bellied drongos, racket-tailed drongos, paradise flycatcher, black-headed oriole, etc and Python, Rat snake, Red sand boa, Trinket are non-venomous snakes. Various reptiles are also found here.
